The Indian Pueblo Cultural Center presents each weekend, 52 weeks out of the year, traditional Native American Indian dance performances and guest Art Demonstrators, many of whom are award-winning at major Native American art shows across the country. We also feature changing exhibitions of art, food, culture, history, and current affairs of the Pueblo people.

Exhibit: “Timeless Beauty: Pueblo Women Artists of the 20th Century”
This exhibit in collaboration with  the Adobe Gallery and  School for Advanced Research and Human Experience highlights the works of famed Pueblo women artists, Helen Cordero (Cochiti), Maria Martinez (San Ildefonso), Pablita Velarde (Santa Clara), Tonita Pena (Cochiti), and Margaret Tafoya (Santa Clara).  An auction of this artwork will take place on June 14, 2008 to benefit the Institute of Pueblo Indian Studies housed within the IPCC .

FRI                          February 1            Recognizing Black American History Month
“Call of All Drums” a collaborative film festival that will focus on the cinematic productions and products of African American and Native American filmmakers concurrently.  Meaningful information and films that speak directly to the interconnectedness of the African American experience and the Native American experience in contemporary society.

“Contemporary Pueblo Women Artists: Inspiration and the Creative Process”

In our exhibition Timeless Beauty, several contemporary women artists offered their words reflecting on how the women featured in the exhibition have influenced their own work.  We have invited those same artists to discuss how their work breaks away from that foundation and how they create art which is new and innovative yet still draws on their Pueblo heritage.

An exhibit ion of contemporary Pueblo art by Deborah A. Jojola (Isleta/Jemez).  The installation includes a wide variety of printmaking including lithography, relief litho-cuts and collage mosaics of Jojola’s prints.  The exhibition also includes her clay work and other materials.
Opening reception on April 11 at  12 noon – 2 pm followed by a talk by the artist from  3 pm – 4 pm.

Waffle and Corn Garden Project at Albuquerque Bio Park
Join Pueblo children who will plant heirloom seeds passed down throughout generations of Pueblo ancestors at the waffle gardens developed by them at Albuquerque’s Bio Park.  This is a community event and the public is invited to attend and help in planting.  The crops from this planting will be harvested during the “From Field to Feast-  A Native and Hispanic Community Celebration” in the fall on October 4, 2008.
